Luis Moreno Ocampo, the former chief ICC prosecutor, has admitted that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s case is very difficult, complicated and is not going well Moreno Ocampo began the Kenyan investigations in 2010 on his own initiative, after the crimes that were committed following the disputed 2007 general elections. He repeatedly promised to make Kenya an example on managing violence. Now the former chief prosecutor is conceding that Uhuru Kenyatta’s trial is not going very well. During an interview with BBC, Ocampo said that Uhuru’s case is complicated and difficult because the office of the prosecutor (OTP) is having problems with witnesses in the case. He said that no one knows whether the witnesses were bribed or threatened He said that Kenyans should look at the bigger picture which shows how the law can be used to reduce violence. He also added that through Kenyatta’s appearance at the Hague, Kenyans have shown their support for the ICC.
